Question: What kind of mattresses are good for platform beds?
I’m moving tomorrow and am shopping for new bedroom furniture. I’m stuck on what kind of mattress to buy for my platform bed.
What kind of mattress is good for a platform bed? Can I use a temper-pedic or pillow top mattress without boxsprings on it?

You can use any mattress on a platform bed. You do not need to use boxsprings.
you can use any kind of mattresses for platform beds. Temper-pedic is even better but a bit pricey. But if you have 2-3K to spare, go for the Temper-pedic. I’m still waiting to remodel my master bedroom before I the Temper-pedic, but looks like it’s going to be years before I can cough up 40K for remodeling
I just moved too and I recently bought a mattress. We have a platform bed frame. We bought this frame because we found a mattress witch is similar to Tempur but cheaper. The mattress was horrible. It was too soft. We had extreme back pain. It was difficult to return it. I can not remember if a Tempur mattress I saw 2 years ago was soft or firm. We found a better mattress. It is firm, the name is England. We made a big mistake, We ordered the mattress and we did not tell them not to bring the box spring. They delivered the items. The bed frame, box spring and mattress was too high. I had to climb on the bed. We did not expect this. Fortunately we could put the box springs under the bed. A platform bed is only to use with a mattress. Any mattress can be used.
You can either go with no box springs, or some mattress manufacturers offer low profile box springs which are less that 6 inches high. These give the mattress a bit more firmness if your platform doesn’t have an abundance of slats.
