Wood BedsteadGenerally speaking, it’s quite easy to maintain wood bed frames. You do, however, need to make sure that liquids are not spilled on your wooden bedstead, because they can cause discoloration.

For general cleaning:

1. Remove surface dirt with a damp flannel dust cloth. On a weekly basis, dust or wipe clean your wooden bedstead with a cloth dampened with water.

2. Use a lint-free cloth and a wood polisher like Lemon Pledge to polish your wooden bed frame on a regular basis.

Or you can make your own polisher: one teaspoon light olive oil to half cup white vinegar. Shake well before applying.

3. Want more shine? Gloss with vinegar before polishing.

For spot cleaning:

Water Rings. Apply an oil-based wood polish with a soft cloth before buffing. Or, apply mayonnaise liberally on the stain. Wipe off the next day.

For stubborn marks, apply a thick paste of cooking oil and salt, Leave on for 15 minutes before wiping. Gloss over with wood polish.

Polish Build Up. To get rid of build up, mix half cup vinegar and half cup water, Give the wooden bedstead a once-over. You need to clean the entire piece, not just the area that’s soiled.

Scratches. Look into your kid’s crayon box for a color that’s closest to your bedstead. Melt down a small amount and work it into the scratch until concealed.

Platform Beds Or Bedsteads For The Overweight?

Platform Bed For The OverweightI am glad that hubby’s decision on getting a platform bed rather than a wooden bedstead for his overweight brother is right.

You see, my brother-in-law is 5 feet 8 inches tall and more than 90 kg or 198 pounds. He is considered the fattest one among all the brothers.

Due to his weight, he tends to be very clumsy. Guess what? He crashed my favorite IKEA Pöang chair last year before his metal bedstead came crashing down 2 months ago.

Initially hubby thought of buying him a wooden bedstead, but after fearing that the four legs of the bed could not withstand his clumsiness, he bought him this Platform Bed instead.

It’s not that the wood bed frame can’t support his heavy weight. No, it’s his clumsiness.

With this 82 x 62 x 10 inch queen-sized platform bed designed for durability, hubby and I don’t have to worry about any broken leg.

I love the laminate finish very much. It looks sleek and coordinates well with existing bedroom furniture and décor.
