Question: How to Clean Soiled Mattresses?
How to clean mattresses that have been peed on by children? I don’t want to go buy new ones because I just bought the brand new ones like 6 months ago!
Answer: The best way is perhaps to keep a waterproof mattress cover or mattress pad on every mattress including your own bed since children like to crawl into bed with you at night.
Before you put on a waterproof mattress cover or mattress pad, make sure you soak up as much excess urine as possible until the the urine stain is dry.
Next, apply 3% liquid hydrogen peroxide on the stained area. Leave it on for five minutes. Repeat the step above.
Then, apply bicarbonate of soda or baking soda on the mattress and rub it in gently with a soft brush or firm sponge. Leave it on overnight. Vacuum off the dry powder the next day.
Lastly, dry the mattress in hot sun for a day before putting on a waterproof mattress cover or mattress pad.

To ensure that you get the most life out of your bed, prolong the life of your newly-bought discount mattress with the 7 Quick Mattress Care Tips.
1. Turn the mattress over and rotate it regularly to help prevent permanent wear spots. Do it every two weeks for the first three months and after that, every two or three months.
2. Use a mattress protector to keep it clean. Use a vacuum cleaner to vacuum up the baking soda powder which was left sit for a few hours on top of the mattress.
3. Remove stains by lightly dabbing with liquid dish detergent that has been well diluted in water. For tough stains like blood spots, try blotting with hydrogen peroxide.
4. Don’t fold the mattress and try to bend it as little as possible when carrying it around corners.
5. Give it good support and don’t put it on a saggy, broken-down base.
6. Don’t sit on the same spot every time, for example, when you sit on the verge of your bed to tie your shoe laces.
7. Replace your mattress every 10 years as using the same one for too long can cause back and neck problems, not to mention the hygiene risks.
