The recent sweltering temperatures have been causing many, especially those whose homes have no air-conditioners, suffer an uncomfortable and restless sleep. Well, I am one of them! :-)

Does summer/hot weather remind you of something else besides beaches and bikinis? Yes, it’s time to flip the mattress of yours!

Of course, there is some cleaning to do before you flip it over.

If there are sweat stains and dust mites, vacuum first. Vacuum the mattress, particularly between piping and crevices, to remove dead skin cells that attract dust mites.

Next, mix a mild detergent with water until suds form. Apply the dry suds only to the stained areas using a sponge. Wipe the areas with a sponge that has had warm water wrung from it.

Then, allow the areas to dry thoroughly. You can use a fan blowing across the mattress surface to ensure that the damp areas dry quickly or drag the mattress out and dry it in the hot scorching sun.

My neighbor’s Queen Therapeutic Memory Foam Mattress with 5″ 5LB Viscoelastic Memory Foam arrived yesterday. Being her nice neighbor, it’s for sure that I had to go check out her newly-bought discount mattress.

It’s not just a normal discounted mattress, it’s of 77% off discount deal, you know. From $2,500.00 to $575.00! According to my neighbor, this mattress is $945 on sale at a local furniture store.

The memory foam mattress was still vacuum packed in plastic when I arrived at her house. It’s good that there were multiple layers protecting the actual mattress so that there’s no chance of damage in-transit.

It was very heavy to move though. My neighbor should have me to thank to help move it out of her living room and into the bedroom.

As for the distinct smell to the mattress after unwrapping it, my neighbor told me this morning that it evaporated before the first night.

Since there is this 90-Day in Home Guarantee, my neighbor asked me to get a Queen 12″ Therapeutic Memory Foam Mattress with 5″ 5LB Viscoelastic Memory Foam during sale. If I don’t like it, return it after a week or so.

Er, sorry, it’s either I leave it or I buy one and use it for a long time. I don’t have this habit of returning goods, especially big items like beds and mattresses after trying them on.
